Abstract In today’s society, where independent living is becoming increasingly important, it can be extremely constricting for those who are blind. Blind and visually impaired (BVI) people face challenges because they need manual support to prompt information about their environment. this work, we took our first step towards developing an affordable high-performing eye wearable assistive device, DRISHTI, provide visual navigation assistance BVI people. This system comprises a camera module, ESP32 processor, Bluetooth smartphone speakers. Using artificial intelligence, proposed detect understand the nature of users’ path obstacles ahead user in that then inform users via audio output enable them acquire directions by themselves on journey. discussed paper involves establishing proof-of-concept achieving right balance affordability performance testing initial software integration currency detection algorithm low-cost embedded arrangement. work will lay foundation upcoming works toward goal assisting maximum around globe moving independently.
